The role of University in creating entrepreneurs
Since 2001, the Biotechnology Center’s Business Incubator (IE-CBiot/UFRGS) has been providing support and training for a new generation of entrepreneurs, young Master’s and Doctoral students who have found the ideal conditions at the University to carry out their business projects.
During this time, several projects have achieved the status of undertakings ready to face, in a planned, competitive manner, a market which is characterized by the need for a long period of product development and large initial investments.
Motivations of this kind are what have confirmed the effectiveness of IE-CBiot’s efforts, continually investing in expanding its technological and professional bases to support new projects in the sector, promoting the Public University’s entrepreneurial role in achieving Brazil's economic objectives by promoting its young talent.
IE-CBiot maintains the policy of neither bringing in competing companies nor those that use products which might affect or place safety, health and/or the environment at risk.
IE-CBiot’s challenge is based on its own Mission, in which it makes the commitment to "encourage and support the development of projects in the field of biotechnology in the state of Rio Grande do Sul."
